  2. Dear Chancellor Syverud,

Please know that all of us at Catholic Charities are praying for you and your family. You are very much on my mind and in my heart.

I know during your tenure at SU you volunteered at our homeless shelter for men. You did it quietly without anyone's knowledge. I will never forget this simple act of compassion and humility. Thank you for being that example in my life.

Wishing you God's Grace in the days ahead.

    Sincerely.

  3. I’m sorry to learn about your news. I had breast cancer 9 years ago. I had a year of treatments. It was difficult but I kept a positive attitude and kept my mind on the mission of healing and the love I received from my family and our community. I had wonderful doctors. You do too. Keeps the faith.

  4. Why don’t you guys have a category of “Sports Fan”?

Anyway. I got to meet Chancellor Kent at a women’s basketball game where he was kind enough to let me grab a selfie with him. With his kindness, I had to shoot my shot for one more favor, not for me, but for my mom. I asked if his office could write a letter recognizing my mom’s 23 years of service at SU for her upcoming retirement. She had been an assistant at SU since 2000. He graciously said he would, and asked if I knew his email. “Uh, no Kent.” I gave him my business card, and Monday morning, there was the follow up email. What a class act. His office helped me put the letter together and Mom was more than surprised during her retirement party in April of 2023. Can’t thank him enough.

I wish him, Dr. C, and their family all the best during this challenging time.
